EXTRACTIVES, JUST TRANSITION, & CORPORATE ACCOUNTABILITY SUBCOMMITTEE
As members of faith-based coalitions engaged directly with the mechanisms, forums, declarations and structures of the United Nations,
- This subcommittee examines issues in extractive industries with the specific concern of care of Earth and those impacted by extractive practices globally.
- We attend to efforts by all parties to assist in the just transition from traditional means of obtaining energy – such as mining and fossil fuel extraction – to a more sustainable model of meeting global energy needs via wind and solar modalities.
- We keep in mind the challenges posed by transnational corporations and whenever possible work to confront those who control much of the legal and political mechanisms that drive these inequalities.
